Donald X Caiside Excerpt - Staring

Donald had short hair that was combed back. A strand was going against the grain by poking in front of his face. His brown eyes scanned the book he was reading carefully in the recliner. Caiside sat in the chair across from him. He had only sat there because he had nothing better to do. So he chose to stare at Donald. He had to admit that Donald was rather handsome.
Donald flipped a page of his book. He was snuggled into his favorite chair. He was reading a book of potions and spells. He could feel eyes on him, but he didn’t want to stop reading his book.
He flipped to another page and read.
He still felt the eyes burning into him.
He flipped another page.
His skin was beginning to crawl.
He flipped to another page.
Donald bit his cheek as he attempted to suppress the urge to scream.
He flipped another page.
He couldn’t handle it anymore.
He flipped down a corner of the book and snapped it closed.
He sat the book in his lap as he looked up at Caiside. “Is there any reason why you’re staring?”
Caiside shrugged as he continue to stare.
Donald rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Is staring a common thing where you’re from?”
Caiside thought about it for a moment. “No,” he finally answered after a moment.
“Then why are you staring at me?”
Caiside tilted his head back and stared at the ceiling. Why was he staring? Staring was just something he did. His kind did it all the time. He could stare into the souls of people. He could tell so many secrets just by one look. But there was something interesting about Donald. He just couldn’t put his finger on it. Plus there was that deal he made with Bethel. “You interest me,” he replied staring back at him.
Donald tilted his head. He interested him? Strange. He was just a simple witch. Why would a simple witch interest him? Someone who wasn’t even mortal. Come to think of it, he still didn’t know what Caiside was. He squinted his eyes as he stared at Caiside.
“Trying to figure out what I am?” Caiside smirked.
Donald nodded. “I’ve yet to make any guesses.”
“Well, stare all you want.” Caiside shrugged. “After all, they say the eyes are the windows to the soul. I’m curious what you can see.”

Donald glared. He was sure that was a crack at his lack of ability. Sure he wasn’t as good as his Aunt Bethel with magic. But he could still use it. He just needed a lot of practice. The two entered a staring contest.

Hey guys!
I've written a book called "The Prince and the Unicorn."  I do plan on publishing it, but I'm debating on rather or not I should draw pictures for the book.
So I decided to make a poll. So if you could please be so kind, please vote in the poll here.
Thank you all so much for your input and support!

Problems with Mom

So my mom came to visit today. She had to fix her car. There was something wrong with it and then they realized there was a hole in the muffler. So they had to fix that. They wound up patching it.
I love my mom. I really do. But it’s gotten to the point where I don’t want to be near her. I used to think that my mom was awesome. But now I’m realizing that she’s loud. She talks way too much for no reason. She acts so childish. Like a teenage girl sometimes. I think that she might even be having a midlife crisis or something right now as I’m writing this. It’s just weird.
I’m still upset about the way she asked for a picture of me. So let me start from the beginning of that one for you. In April, I went with my boyfriend to the Blue Man Group concert. On my birthday, my mom came to visit.
So first thing, my birthday was on Wednesday. She called me on Monday to tell me she was coming over. I already had plans to go out with my boyfriend. So I rearranged my plans so she could come visit. Then, when she gets to my house, she’s bitching that she has to be at work at 8 in the morning and that she has to drive home in the dark.
And the whole time, I’m thinking, “You made me feel bad for already having plans. I didn’t have to rearrange them for you.”
See that pisses me off. She made plans around me without my consent. And then when I’m a good daughter and rearrange my plans for her, she’s complaining.
I also made an effort to look pretty that day. I’m not a beauty. I know that. I’ve known it all of my life. I’ve been told it on several occasions by my mother too. So I’m wearing a cute dress, nice jewelry. I’ve brushed my hair, teeth, and I’ve shaved. I used to never shave unless she made me. But I have a boyfriend and I want to look as close to ‘beautiful’ as I can for him.
So we’re sitting in the kitchen. All of us talking. And then my mom turns to me and says, “God you’ve got thick upper arms.” I immediately became upset, but I didn’t show it much. I didn’t want to show it because my boyfriend was right there and I didn’t want to cause a fuss with my mom. After all, she doesn’t seem the problem with it.
But later, we showed my mom a picture of us (my boyfriend and I) at the blue man concert. I look really pale in the photo. Almost like a ghost. A fact my mom pointed out with laughs and with very little love that I could feel.
Well, several days later, I miss a call from her. My phone was in my purse in the house while I was outside. It was from mom.
“It’s your mother. Send me that picture of you at the blue man concert. I want to show MawMaw how pale you are!” she ordered with a laugh at the end. MawMaw is my grandmother on her side. I heard no love in her voice. Just teasing. Teasing like that you would get from children in elementary school.
So I decided not to send the photo. I’m not going to be the butt of her jokes. I’m not going to allow her to bully me because that’s what it feels like.
But she calls again. And I answer. And she asks me to send the picture. I tell her I will when I get the time. And I don’t send it.
Then today she comes over. And that’s all she brings up and the fact that my sister won’t answer her calls. I tell her I’ll email it to her.
She complains. She can’t get into her email. She broke her laptop screen.
I have no sympathy.
She tells me to text it on my phone.
I lie and say it’s not on my phone, because I got a new one. I tell her I can’t put it on my phone.
My brother picks up my other phone and says I can blue tooth it. Luckily, my phone spazzed out on him and he couldn’t do it. I took the battery out and said the only way to fix it was to leave the battery out for a few hours.
Mom left pouty. And now I think they’re going over to my sister’s house to bug her. And I’ve told them that she’s sick. She’s not feeling well. But they don’t seem to care.
My sister doesn’t want him near her or her children. And frankly, I don’t want him near them either. He was talking about getting in touch with a friend to bring him drugs so he could get high. And the ones he mentioned are not ones I approve of or condone. I’m not okay with that. I don’t want him near them. I don’t want him near me.
I don’t know if our mom is just blind or if she’s turning a blind eye, but I’m not okay with it. Mom and my brother have both been told that he isn’t allowed over at that house. He did something stupid and my sister’s mother-in-law said he can’t come over anymore. But they’re not listening or something.

I don’t know. I don’t care. I’m now officially done with my brother. I don’t know about my mom. I’ll try to have her in my life, but if she continues on with the way she is, I’ll probably just ignore her too. I’d hate to do it, but I don’t want to be bullied anymore by anyone. Especially not my own family.

I want to watch the world burn
I want to close my eyes
 And never open them again
I want to lay in bed
Until the century ends
Maybe longer if I can
But it won’t allow it
I want to sleep
I’m running
So fast my lungs
My muscles ache
I don’t want to be here
I’m done
My brain is checking out
I know I wake up early,
But I don’t want to travel at 7.
I want to just dream
I want to just think.
I don’t want to work on this drawing
It will mean nothing to me later
It will mean nothing to you later too
So why am I working so hard?
Does it really matter?
I used to think school was so important,
But then I graduated and realized it wasn’t.
You all just seem to love to pressure me.
I’m done.
I’m tired.
I want to watch the world burn
As I scream in the wreckage
Of what I’ve caused
You can’t find me.
You can’t hold me.
You can’t stop my feelings
They’re raging
Like some wild beast
I’m done.
I’m so done and over with it all
I want to work on my projects
Ones that matter
Ones that I feel will actually improve me
I’m so done doing things that won’t matter.
Things that don’t matter at all to me.
I’m so done with that.
My heart is beating fast.
My brain is rushing so many places
I can’t keep up
But I don’t have to the time to catch up
Because I’m always working on your work.
I’m done
Give me something I love.
Give me something I enjoy.
Let me work on my own things
My own projects
Maybe I live in my own little world
Maybe I’m just delusional.

Maybe I just want to light myself on fire and watch myself burn.

Went to a Flee Market

I went to a flee market in South Carolina today. It was a long drive away, about two hours. But it was really fun. I took some pictures of the scenery along the way for drawing references later. The flee market was huge and we walked around for a long while. It was a very fun experience.
The last time I went to South Carolina was when I was about 10 or so when we drove through it on our way to Dollywood over a weekend, so I don't remember it very clearly. But today was a fun day.

Theme: What would you do if you woke up one morning to find yourself invisible?
Alphonse groaned as he turned in his bed. He’s head was aching. He pushed himself up on his bed. He looked around his room. Nothing was out of place. The chifforobe stood tall and light was beaming through the curtains.
“Oh my! I’m running late!” he cried as he jumped out of bed. He grabbed the handle to his door and tried to push it open. He gasped as the door didn’t open. He stared and the door and reached to grabbed the knob firmly. He gasped as he hand went through the door.
“This can’t be happening!” He turned to look at his bed. It was empty. It looked as if he had slept in it.
“Dodginberg!” He heard a woman call. He smiled as he recognized the voice of his maid. “Master Dodginberg! You need to get up.” The door opened and a small, plump woman stood at the door.
“Ethel!” he greeted. “What time is it?”
“Master Dodginberg?” she paused. She carefully walked into the room. Alphonse shivered as he felt her walk through him. “Master Dodginberg? Where are you?” She looked under the bed and checked the closet. She tssked as she didn’t find him.
“I’m right here Ethel!” Alphonse cried out. “I’m right here!” He grabbed her shoulder but gasped as it only went through her. He took several steps back and cowered into the corner. “No. No. No. No. No.” His back slid down the wall as he collapsed. “This can’t be happening. This just can’t. No. No. No!” He curled over as the tears fell down his check in steady streams.

Theme: Sonic Underground AU
She turned to glance at him. She moved her quills to hide her face, but she could see him through them. The green hedgehog stood in awe of the place. The walls seemed to be made of crystal. The grass was luscious greens with little big planet’s signature flowers everywhere. She was amazed he hadn’t noticed her yet, but if she moved, he would. That was the trouble with sitting by the pond. One moment and the water would splash.
His brown eyes focused on her. He couldn’t see her very well, but he could tell she was pink. He walked over to her. She hoped that if she stayed completely still he would take her for a statue and leave. He stood close to the edge of the pond.
“Yo!” he gave a small wave, “Are you okay? You haven’t moved since I came in here.”
She didn’t respond. “Stay a statue,” she told herself.
He sighed as he climbed up on the rock she was perched on. He sat a few inches away with his legs crossed. “I’m Manic. What’s your name?” He could tell she was real. The wind was softly moving her pink quills. He could see her emerald green eyes straining to stay open. “You’re not a statue you know.” He poked her in the middle of her forehead. “I’m not a dumb badnik. So talk or move or something.” He continued poking her in the forehead.
She leaned away from him. The poking was annoying and he was beginning to add more force behind it as if he were trying to tip her over.
“There we go!” He beamed a huge smile at her. “So I’ve already told you my name, what’s yours?”
She stood up and dusted her clothes off. She was wearing long silk robes with intricate designs sown in. She was stiff from playing statue. She picked up her cards and turned to face him fully.
Manic smiled plainly at her. Waiting for an answer. He took note of how small she was. She couldn’t have been more then 9 at least. She stared at him intently as she hesitantly sat back down, mimicking his posture. They entered a staring contest. Manic burst into laughter. She arched an eyebrow at him. “Sorry. Sorry. Sorry,” his body shook with laughter as he clutched his stomach, “But I really suck at staring contests.”
He looked up at her with a big smile and she smiled. She had been fighting the urge to laugh this whole time. She soon broke out in fits of giggles. Manic smiled at this as he sat up and tried to regain his composure. He was failing miserably.
“So you can make sound. I was afraid you were mute for a moment there. I don’t know sign language and I didn’t bring any paper with me here.” He joked.
She smiled as she nodded as she lifted her legs close to her body and wrapped her arms around them. She looked around the area they sat in. It was an inner part of Little Big Planet. One of its secret rooms that few could ever find. “How did you get here?”
“I believe I asked for your name first.” Manic pouted. “Or do cute girls like you think that boys like me are undeserving of knowing what to call you?”
Her face turned red. Cute? Did he really just say that? She must have misheard him. She looked around the area. He told her not talk to anyone. He was always so overprotective, it drove her up the wall sometimes. It’s why she ran away here. She knew it wouldn’t be long before he arrived to take her back home. But surely it couldn’t hurt to tell Manic her name. He did seem nice after all. “Amy,” she spoke softly.
Manic smiled. He noticed her blush and found it cute. She was just shy. “Well it’s very nice to meet you Amy!” He extended his hand to her.
