Book store Cafe

 10/12/2022

Sonia grinned as she noticed the handsome man sitting down at a table. He was reading as he waited for his order. His black fur with red stripes was stricking. He gave off rough and tough, but well mannered.

She santered over as she waited on her order. “Hello there,” She smiled, “My name is Sonia. What’s yours?”

He glanced up at her before turning his gaze back to his book.

Sonia smiled, not to be deterred, kept going. “The cover of your book looks interesting. Is it a good read?”

He gave a short nod.

Sonia kept up her flirting, only getting small nods as acknowledgement.

“Rose,” One of the barista’s called after a few minutes.

The man got up to get the coffee, leaving the book on the table. He returned holding a to go cup.

"Rose is a really lovely name," Sonia complimented. He must have been self conscious having a girly name. He liked at her with sharp red eyes.

"My wife name is indeed." He started matter of factly. As he gathered his book. "Have a good day, miss."

Sonia was embarrassed. She had didn't the last 5 minutes flirting with a married man. She should have taken his disinterest as a sign to leave him be. But she had to be determined and stubborn. She collected her coffee and went to get the book she wanted.

She paused as she saw Amy in the section she was walking towards. "Amy!" She called to the pink hedgehog. Amy looked up from the book she was skimming.

She gave a soft wave. "Hi Sonia, long time no see."

"I just got in yesterday." She explained.

"Welcome back," Amy smiled. "Anything new?"

"I spent 5 minutes flirting with a hunk tho politely ignored me because he was married while waiting on coffee. It was mortifying." Sonia explained.

Amy rubbed her shoulder in an attempt to comfort her. "That does sound embarrassing. But at least you know when to quit."

"Rose, I found the book you were looking for." Shadow came around the corner. He grabbed her a book in ancient languages.

"Thanks Shadow." Amy beamed as she took the book. "Shadow, this is Sonia. Sonia this is Shadow." She introduced the two. Shadow gave a curt nod.

"You got married?" Sonia stated after a moment. Her jade eyes stared at the pale pink hedgehog. She was a bit offended she wasn't invited. More so that she wasn't told.

Amy tilted her head before giggling as it clicked in her brain. "Shadow doesn't like flirting or socializing. So he sometimes just tells fibs to mess with people."

The Witch adopts the Duke's Precious Niece Ch1

Krissie: I wanted to try to write a webnovel similar to the webnovels/comics I've been obsessed with reading. So enjoy this new series!

Chapter 1

This world was interesting. And I was luckily born into a role that wouldn't put me at risk. I was an extra. On top of that, a witch. I was more a powerful witch, but I got joy from the simple magic tricks I could do. With my knowledge of the novel, I traveled to a place relatively unharmed by the novel's events.

Sure, I didn't have access to a convence store, but my magic made gardening easier. For anything else I could disguise myself to sell the excess in the neighboring villages and buy what I lack.

I hummed as I walked to my garden. The sound of a child crying caught my attention. It sounded human. Humans had never entered my forest before. Perhaps it was a kid who got lost? I didn't want rumors that the forest ate people starting. I gasped in shock as I found a fresh new born baby crying next to a dead woman. I scooped the baby and checked for injuries. They were still coated in a film.

It was obvious that the woman was long dead. She must have given birth as she was dying. I took note of the injuries on her body.

My heart ached as I held the crying baby close. I used a spell to levitate the body back to my house. The gardening would have to wait. I cleaned up the child and slowly spooned them soup. I used magic to clean the mother's body while I did so. Once the baby was full and sleeping, I wrapped them in blankets and let them sleep in a clothes basket. The bed was too dangerous.

I carefully cleaned the mother's clothes. She has expensive jewelry. Odd that a noble lady would be in a forest. Should I put the jewelry away for the child? I bit my lower lip. A baby has no need of jewels. I cat a spell to preserve the now cleaned body. I covered the wounds before putting her in a make shift coffin.

"Rest well ma'am." I whispered as I gave her a burial under a tree. I walked back inside to see the sleeping child. I sighed as I watched them. "You're going to need a band."
