Arby's Karen

 Arby’s Karen

So the day was May 25th, 2022. It was a little after 9pm. And for anyone wondering, I’m typing it up legit a few minutes after it all happened. So Hubby and I had went to Publix to get subs but the deli was closed. Hubby decided on Arby’s since we haven’t been there for a while. I don’t recall what time it was when we got there, but it was still in the 9th hour. There was a long line. That was fine. We didn’t mind, they were still open. I was watching the Phil Defranco show while we waited, pausing often to talk about the news stories. The nice lady gave us our drinks and yes it was taking a while to get our food, but there was only two workers in the store.

Side Note, I’m typing this with Nova in my lap and arms. He’s very soft and snuggly.

But after a while of waiting, the car behind us began honking their horn. Obnoxiously. Hubby kept an eye on the car behind us. I complained and bitch. Like seriously. Even I know  everything closes at 10pm in this area. It’s going to take a minute with only two people inside to get the food.

Then this crazy white lady in a white night dress with florals from what I could see of her from the passenger seat of my car, gets out of her car and walks up to the window. Just a heads up, PLEASE DON’T GET OUT OF YOUR CAR in the drive thru! I don’t think it’s okay what’s so ever. It’s a personal pet peeve of mine. But this woman comes up to the window asking what’s taking so long, that she’s been waiting 15 minutes. Like 15 minutes was such a long time that it was a crime. And this is why she’s a karen. She started complaining to the lady at the window as we were just handed our food and were about to ask for sauces. I should have recorded to the whole thing once I realized she was there, but I was too shocked by her audacity.

My hubby even told her there are only two of them and they’re about to close. A fact that was repeated by the lady at the window. Karen went off saying that they shouldn’t “make it their customers’ problems” or something. She was being a total bitch. We just wanted to ask for our sauce. The lady at the window asked us what sauces we wanted, and Karen went, “Don’t ask me. Ask him.”

The nice window lady said she was about to. It made all of us really uncomfortable. Hubby could barely say Honey Mustard. Karen legit stood there and watched the lady hand us the sauces before going back to her car.

I just remember going, “Go back to your car Karen.” I believe I said it as she was going back to her car. Once she was gone, Hubby and I apologized to them for having to deal with the Karen. Hubby asked them to please spit in her food. The nice lady at the window said, “Don’t worry. It’s our burden to bear. And we get paid for it.”

I still don’t think they get paid enough to deal with Karens. But very well.

As we left, hubby felt like he should have yelled at the Karen. But the whole situation was awkward and so outlandish we both kind of froze. I didn’t think about recording until it was over.

But yeah, that is the story of the Arby’s Karen. A karen that I witnessed and actually remembered to write about. Remember to be kind to your customer service working people you encounter. We don’t need to make their job more difficult.

Thank you for reading my story. I'll be making a story time video of this later after my Sonic June videos, but I wanted to post the script somewhere.
