Discovering Body Ch1

The music was playing softly as two voices spoke over head. Maureen shifted and felt a pang in her back. It felt like something was digging into her back. She attempted to rub her back but froze as she found her hands bound. She slowly opened her eyes and found herself laid across the back seat of a car. Tape bound her hands in front of her. She could hear the air pushing against the car. Panic over came her as she looked out the window without moving her body. It was a dark night sky. She recongized the street lights that lit up the highways. She looked forward. She couldn't see the driver, but she could see the silhouette of the passenger. The lights from passing lights and cars gave Maureen a good look at him. She recognized his short, nearly shaved head. She could easily see the tattoo on the back of his shoulder. She could easily guess who might be in the driver seat.
She glared as her panic turned to rage.
How dare they?
She looked at the door and found it unlocked. She rolled over into the floor board and pretended to be asleep.
"What was that?" The driver asked.
The passenger looked in the back seat. "She rolled over in her sleep. She sure squirms a lot."
Maureen closed her eyes and allowed drull to leak from her mouth.
"She's still asleep too." The passenger stated as he turned back around.
Maureen waited a moment before squirming toward the door. She was lucky the two didn't notice. They were probably the worse kidnappers ever. She recognized their voices. There was no doubt in her mind who they were. She was sure to turn them over to police once she got away.
The door handle was easy enough to reach. She felt the car begin to shift into the opposite lane. She took this chance to gain distance. She pulled the handle and pushed against the door. It flung open and she tumbled out.
She clenched her teeth as the concrete scrapped up her back, arms, and legs. She was glad that she wore jeans to bed. Otherwise she would be in a lot worse condition. The rush of movement made her dizzy. She needed to run and get away from them. It was dark and yet bright all at once. Her legs felt like jello, but she turned and ran away from where she thought the car was. Her ears rang from hearing several horns go off. Burnt rubber and gasoline surrounded her as she tried to run in a zig zag motion. She knew one of them had a gun. She wasn't sure how far she had gotten before a car had hit her. She heard the squeals of the brakes as she rolled onto the hot hood of the car. There were several squeals and Maureen soon lost the ability to differentiate the sounds as she rolled off the car hood and onto the ground. She laid like a sack of potatos on the ground. Her mind screamed to run, but her body didn't comply and soon she lost consciousness.
