 Star Detective Precure Ep8 Review

The episode stars with Mystique and Answer gushing over how cute Pochitan is in her Precure outfit. The outfit based on Cure Answer's look. Jett doesn't get why the girls are gushing over it so much. They ask where the outfit came from and Jett states he made it. He figured Pochitan wanted to be a Precure, so he made her an outfit. The Girls call him amazing. I love how they stare at him for a long second before they tell him so shocking him into his fairy form. 

Jett soaks up the praise. The cures state that they noticed everything he makes is cute and ask how he designs everything so. Jett states it's because he's a genius. Good ole ego there sir. He states that he wasn't always that way and that he studied Cuteness seriously. 

Answer asks Jett why doesn't he open a shop since she feels it's a shame they're the only one who has them. And then we cut to the opening theme song. This makes me wonder, is this the opening of the first Pretty Holic store? Is Jett the owner? That feels like a lot of pressure for him, even if he is over 200 years old. Jett strikes me as the designer/inventor guy. Being a store owner might be too much with all those responsibilities. 

The episode is titled, "Pretty Smiles at Pretty Holic!!" 

ah, I love that my stupid rambling was answered so quickly. Don't make our poor Jett a store owner though. I want him to continue making things while eating a bunch of sugar.

Answer suggest they made items based on the PreKit and sell them. Mystique suggest having the store on the 2nd floor. Jett isn't too sure. Mystique explains that if people come to the store, they'll see the Detective Agency and thus, they'll know where to go ask for help if something happens! After all, location and advertisement is key when starting new businesses or selling things. Kind of wish I would remember to do this for my own stuff. Back on track, Jett agrees. He'll make some items and rake in the cash. Answer suggests a lip gloss. Mystique agrees as she's always been interested in cosmetics. I love how Jett just freezes as he was watches the cures talk. 

Cut to our bad guys. Nijee is talking about how the Cures are getting in their way. He wants to get rid of them. Maestro Noir tells him not to. He wants Nijee and the others to focus on getting the Makoto jewels only. Nijee reluctantly agrees. purple fox fairy wonders if Nijee would be able to get the Makoto jewel without getting involved with the Precure. 

The cures are cleaning the upstairs and talking about what they need to put where. We see Jett using tools that I find adorable. A blue hammer with a star on it. A drill with a shooting star complete with rainbow! Also, it's mostly in a sky blue color pallet! I love me some sky blue but it's a bit harder to find a cute aesthetic items. Most are mostly pink and despite my love of Kirby, I am not a fan of the color pink. We see him transform into his fairy form and do a cute dance and pose which sends out a heart that puts his magic into the item. Jett freaks out when the girls see him doing this.

Ah, embarrassment at its finest. I feel you Jett. It's happened to me before too. We also learn that his goggles aren't magical, just a lucky charm. 

Flash back to a young Jett with other inventing fairies!!! I'm noticing that most seem to be cats like Jett. Jett used to only care about the function of his inventions, but his teacher with the goggles' inventions were always the most popular. She teaches him the spell to put magic into items to make people smile. 

And it's after watching this flashback scene twice that I realize the makoto jewel might be in Jett's goggles this episode. Might. Hopefully wrong. But it was after that interaction with his teacher that Jett started adding cuteness to his inventions. Jett states that the teacher gave him their goggles when he graduated. Answer states they're his treasure and he nods. We get a shot of the teacher sitting in a chair in the evening breeze outside with a bonnet on! so cute!

Nijee was walking looking for the jewel comes across the Cure Detective Agency. He's surprised to find their headquarters. He wasn't planning on getting involved with them, but it's time for him to show his strength as a thief. We get a zoom in on Jett's goggles. I am so sad that Jett is the victim this episode.

Cute to a mass producing machine making what I think is perfume bottles and Jett doing the dance spell in his human form. I love the cures are doing it from a distance too. 

We have people visiting the store. The owner of the furniture store, an employee from the flower shop, and a sweets chef. Jett is one of the sweets chef's best customers. The first two go to the 2nd floor while the third goes to put the cake in the fridge. Jett goes to grab the payment for the chef but trips and drops several coins that fall under the couch. He takes off his goggles to better get under the couch and the cures help him collect the coins. When he goes to grab his goggles again, he panics that their gone. 

The Detective Cures are on the case. Using the mirror loupe, they can look at the footprints and erase their own. They have 3 sets, one for each of their visitors. Answer asks Pochi if she was reacting to the goggles and Pochitan nods. Then one of the bad guys stole them and is dressed as one of the visitors. 

Each visitor gives an alibi. Pochi whines as her stomach growls. The furniture store owner and chef are surprise and the cures cover it up with Mystique saying her stomach growled. The flower shop employee laughs that they must have a real appetite. We have our feather moment. 

The culprit is the flower employee. Or rather, Nijee dressed as him. Nijee transforms the goggles into the monster of the day. The Cures defeat said monster and return Jett's goggles to him. He's a bit shy on saying thank you though. The real employee from the flower shop shows up and apologies. His van was having issues, probably caused by Nijee. 

We see the Pretty Holic sign!! and pretty close ups of the items that I'm sure the Pretty Holic website already has on sale. Two of their classmates from school show up and question the sign. Answer explains that it means, "Full of cute things you'll go crazy over!" They invite them to come up and look at it. 

As Jett watches everyone shopping, he remembers his teacher's words about making everyone smile with what you make. 

A customer walking away transforms back to Arcana Shadow!! She pulls out the purple bottle of perfume and says it's cute. Fox fairy says that Jett has some good tastes. I like that Arcana Shadow shopped there though we don't know much about her yet. 

And with this we have the ending song! I really like this episode. We get more into Jett's backstory. Nijee said he couldn't return the goggles even more after hearing they are precious and create smiles. I'm more curious about Arcana Shadow and I've been seeing some things about her because I'm like four or five episodes behind. And we haven't even touched on Cure Eclaire who we know will appear at some point in the series. 

All in all, I rank this episode as an S. I love it a ton and Jett is holding a place in my heart right now.
